Organization History

2015: Hello Life was founded by Shira Lile in Longview, Washington, after discovering there was a need for eating disorder recovery resources, with a five member all volunteer board.

2015: Hello Life becomes an incorporated nonprofit with the State of Washington

Truly a grassroots started agency, our first board meeting was in one of our board members living room.

In that living room, the mission of Hello Life was established: to provide a free and accessible pathway to eating disorder recovery, prevention and body positivity for all individuals in Cowlitz County.

2017: Hello Life received tax exempt 501c 3 status from the IRS

2017: Hello life launches its peer mentorship program with its first mentee

2018: Hello Life receives its first grant from The Healthcare Foundation to provide individuals in Cowlitz County with access to eating disorder recovery treatment and prevention and to help the agency with initial start-up costs

2018: Hello Life continues to receive grant funding and donations to help further its mission

2018: Hello Life provides financial assistance for the first time for a local resident to receive dental treatment directly related to eating disorder recovery.

2019: Hello Life provides more than $3,000 in financial assistance for eating disorder recovery, has provided more than 800 hours of peer mentorship and has served more than 50 local unduplicated individuals since its founding.

2019: Hello Life becomes a proud partner of United Way of Cowlitz and Wahkiakum Counties

2019: Hello Life receives its first capacity building grant from The Health Care Foundation for a part-time Executive Director to help build capacity within the agency, expand programs, provide services and outreach to the community

2020: Hello Life continues to make impactful, meaningful and life changing differences in the lives of those in our community by providing a free and accessible pathway to eating disorder recovery, prevention and positive body image for all individuals in Cowlitz County.

2020: Hello Life begins working with local youth by doing age appropriate body positivity work

2020: Just in the first 90 days of 2020, Hello Life has served 84 unduplicated individuals, has provided more than 100 hours of peer mentorship to local individuals and has outreached to more than 400 local individuals.
